What if all this was just about hitting the road?
Piling instruments up at the back of the van, along with a few packs of booze, turning the radio on full blast before the engine starts. Knives and vials stacked in the glove compartment, just in case, to summon spirits when hours on the road turni into days. Driving for escape, leaving the city.
Because the journey, not the goal, is what matters the most, because the thought of going nowhere with a band has now become an act of faith, and because the dusty deserted roads of rock and roll deserve to be driven on, even though they are less crowdy lately. The guys in the van will be talking girls and cars, tomorrows and yesterdays, always remembering that things used to be better now. Whether it is to get some air and finally breathe, or to call for idols to ride with them, they will on stop at dusk, drinking to those who knew better and who wanted to share, happy to know that some of them might throw an ear to the soundtrack of their trip, the one for which they took the road, the one whose name for the day is "Vapoline".
lyrics
Got me a brand new girl, she’s got everything
Everything I need
She’s got this smile that makes me feel
Like driving
I won’t
REPLACE HER
Got me a brand new car, it’s got everything
Everythin I need
Such power under the steering wheel
It makes me feel like i won’t
REPLACE HER
Wake up and feel the pain
It’s everything you need
See it crawling on the floor
Everything you need, it’s everything
(So i got me this brand new car, that I saw the other day, right across the street
It was shining bright in the summer sun, I think it was a Thursday
And on the front seat of this car, there was this girl
And she turned her face to me, and she said « Come on, let’s try this brand new car »)
REPLACE HER

If for a lot of you, you feel like you're missing a new BRMC album , then this my friend is the album you desire.
The album is written, mixed and produced alongside Peter Hayes and I must say, you can hear the influence throughout. A great addition to the BRMC collection.
A truly magnificent album and I very much look forward to listening to future projects from the city of exiles and one day seeing them live jamesaucott1985
cet album est un petit bijou ✨ Mention spéciale pour Heart Away & Someone , le titre qui m'a permis de découvrir et de plonger dans le très joli univers sonore de City of Exiles ! Marie Bruley
